The darbuka, also called tabla, is a hand drum shaped like an hourglass that is popular in Middle Eastern cultures. Often referred to as goblet drums, darbukas produce distinct sounds when musicians strike them with their palms or fingers.
Darbuka drumming is important to Middle Eastern folk music and enlivens parties and ceremonies.
